Swami Aparokshananda Saraswati
Swami Aparokshananda Saraswati first became interested in yoga when he was a teenager. After graduating with a political science and economics degree from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens in 1975, he went on to complete his teacher training under the supervision of Swami Sivamurti Saraswati in 1982 and was initiated in Poorna sannyasa in 1984 by Swami Satyananda Saraswati.
Since 1982 he has resided at Satyanandashram Hellas where he has been involved in the running of the many ashram departments, including the publishing department, kitchen, financial, agriculture, organic farming, gardening and currently, the promotion department and had the role of President of Satyanandashram Hellas from 2006 to 2017. Since 2017 he is vice president.
Over the last four decades, he has attended a variety of Yogic Lifestyle and sannyasin training courses and teacher in-services and he continuously strives to deepen his knowledge of yoga. His interests lies in teaching Hatha and Kriya yoga, Yoga Nutrition, Pranayama, Shatkarmas, Yoga and Ecology. He also co-conducts seminars and talks in Greece.
Over the last four decades, he has assisted in the Teacher training courses which were conducted in the ashram. He teaches in the Paiania ashram and the Satyananda Yoga meditation centers.
He regularly connects with the source of the tradition in India by travelling to the ashrams in Munger and Rikhia, every year and is a member of the Yoga Vidya council, Bihar School of Yoga, Munger India.
He is a member of the Hellenic Union of Teachers trained in the Satyananda system of yoga.
