What however, does a Yogic Lifestyle imply?
A yogic lifestyle arises when, on a daily basis, we begin to put into practice the various principles, disciplines, techniques, philosophies and psychologies found within the various branches of yoga.
These can be adopted and merged into any lifestyle with ease as the broad scope of yoga makes it easy for people from all walks of life, whether active or sedentary, to make yoga their life style.
When we practice yoga as a lifestyle, we begin to live yoga from moment to moment and honor the true intensions of the sages and yogis who have gone before us. It is then we begin to experience the real benefits of yoga.

Does yoga become a lifestyle by attending weekly yoga classes, becoming a vegetarian, or living on fruits and nuts or by giving up all material belongings? No! Adopting yoga into our Lifestyle has to do with how we think, speak, behave, and act. It has to do with finding ways to live with positive and appropriate thoughts, positive and appropriate actions and positive and appropriate behaviour.
How we manage ourselves, others and the situations we find ourselves in. What our attitudes are. What our outlook and philosophy in relation to life is, and whether we live according to the ideals and principles of Yoga, whether we are capable of action rather than reaction, and over reacting to people and situations.
To turn our lifestyle into a Yogic Lifestyle, certain parallel skills and components need to be added such as putting into practice the yogic capsule and the yogic yamas and niyamas.
Also, finding ways to live consciously with awareness, transforming our everyday actions into yogic actions through Karma Yoga, learning how to accept oneself, working on one’s strengths, weaknesses, ambitions and needs through working with the SWAN principle, cultivating positive samskaras, discovering yogic tools to be positive, optimistic and creative in every situation, and examining one’s life are all part and parcel of living a yogic lifestyle.

A yogic lifestyle broadens and opens the mind, and enables us, as Swami Niranjanananda says: to better manage our body, mind and senses, adapt to change and face all the ups and downs of life with equilibrium, balance and a deeper understanding of what life is all about.
This is what living a yogic lifestyle means. Yoga should not stay in the classroom; it needs to become a lifestyle that develops and transforms our personality and awakens our human potential, creativity and self-awareness of who we really are and or our life’s purpose.

Yoga’s power is found in its simplicity, flexibility and diversity.
Yoga is not just the practice of asana, pranayama, pratyahara or dharana; it is not scientific discovery; it is understanding and living one’s life with unity and harmony.
Swami Niranjanananda Saraswati
Awareness is the A and the Ω of Yoga.
Swami Satyananda Saraswati
When you accept yoga as a sadhana in your life, it becomes a way of life. It no longer is a routine that you practise for an hour daily. Instead, you use it every second of the day…. [Yoga] is the method by which one can appreciate and worship life and the opportunities that life presents to each one of us.
